This site was created by Ken Curcio.

I enlisted in 1987 and went to Boot Camp at Parris Island in February 1988. I served 4 years in 2nd MP. Actually, a little longer non-obligated. The Marine Reserve didn’t seem to like the non-obligated status thing and pushed me to re-enlist. I felt then in 1991, that we did not finish the job in Iraq and would be back there eventually. ( and rightly so as it turned out ) Although I loved the Corps, I did not want to serve under a “draft dodger” ( President Bill Clinton ) or worse, be sent to war by one. So, in 1992 I signed out of the unit and into the IRR. I was Honorably Discharged in 1995. I was in 3rd platoon during the Gulf War. Those are my awards above, minus my Rifle and Pistol Expert Shooting Badges.

The inspiration for this site came to me while researching my second cousin’s service in Vietnam. He was with 2nd Bn 26th Marines and was KIA at LZ Margo in 1968. Those Marines had it tough. It is talking to them and visiting their websites that inspired me to build this site to honor my own units service. - Semper Fi 2/26

I also wanted to research and document our service for my children and the children of the other members of 2nd MP Co. One thing I found out is, that it was tough for me to piece back together our tour. Even when talking to others that were there. As I publish this site, I’m still missing information. Our children would probably never have been able to figure it all out. So this is for them as well.

I intend on making this site as historically accurate as possible utilizing personal accounts, photo’s, audio files, and historical documents. Most of the photo’s and things I post will be mine at first and probably mostly from the 3rd Platoon perspective. But, I hope to have other 2nd MP Marines contribute as well. I do have photos that cover most of our tour. The more I discover historically and the more Marines I get to contribute, the better and more accurate the site will be. I will also eventually add a message board or guest book for 2nd MP Marines and others to communicate but I want to get the basic site up first.

I have written a brief history of events and then highlight the significant events on separate pages organized by the location where it occurred. Then there is a photo album page also organized by location with a scrap book album as well. The links page will contain links to Gulf War Sites, Veterans Sites. Marine Corps Sites and others. I have attempted to give credit for the photo’s to the person who took it.
